GriefShare – Grief Recovery Sessions

Central Assembly will host a grief recovery session from August 15 through November 21, 2010.  Sessions will begin at 5:30 p.m.  This is a 13 week session with video and discussion time.  Central Assembly is located at 1301 N. Feed the Music Food Drive

August 22nd from 4-8 p.m. at Jordan Valley Park.

Help to fill the local food pantries. Enjoy live Christian music from local band City of David and nationally recognized band Jamison; comedy from Christian comedian Joe Johnson; fun activities for the kids and meet some of the local not-for-profits serving our community.

Grand Opening of Children’s Music Academy

University Heights Baptist Church will host Festival of Faith in the Arts:  Celebration of God’s Gifts July 23-25. The event begins with a juryed art show for both children and  adults.  Friday, July 23rd at 2pm.  All artist are encouraged to attend the art reception from 6-8 pm.

Workshops including writing, drawing and set building will be held for children and adults 9am to noon Saturday, July 24th.   Skinny Improv will perform at 7:30pm in the Chapel.

A musical performance “Misery, Mayhem, and Madness” will be at 3pm July 25th in the Chapel.

Scrap for Shelter is a fundraising event for Lifehouse Crisis Maternity Home.  The event is July 30-31st, beginning at 6pm at the Marriott Residence Inn on Kingsley.  Cost is $50, which sponsors a Lifehouse resident for one day.  Cost includes dinner, lunch and dinner.  Vendors will be on sight for shopping opportunities.  Swimming is available if you’d like to take a break.  Come learn about new digital scrapping by Creative Memories.  Lifehouse shelters pregnant women in crisis and gives sanctuary to the unborn.

The Brumley Sing honors the life of the late Albert E. Brumley, who was proclaimed “one of the greatest songwriters of our time” by the Smithsonian Institute. Concerts will be held August 4-7 at the Cowan Civic Center on business Loop I-44 in Lebanon, MO.

Snyder Music Park, north of Halltown, will host a Bluegrass Festival on Saturday afternoon and evening from 9am to 9pm on July 17th.  Featured will be SAC River Bluegrass, the Flying Buzzards, Flat Creek Bluegrass, Hard Times, Nighthawk Express, Sage Grass Revival, Ripplin Creek and Red Bridge.

Admission is $10 per person.  There will be food concessions and craft booths.  Camping with water and electric is available for $10 per day, and rough camping for $5 per day.
