Cantus, a nine-member male vocal ensemble, will be performing a concert at Evangel University on Tuesday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Barnett Fine Arts Recital Hall.

There is no charge for admission, and the public is invited to attend.

n a little more than a decade on the concert stage, Cantus has established itself among the leading vocal chamber ensembles in North America. Their repertoire spans all periods and genres, including contemporary works, art songs, early music, world music and pop. Rehearsing and performing without a conductor, the group has been praised by critics and the public alike for its broad repertoire, bold ensemble singing and engaging stage presentation.

As one of the few full-time vocal ensembles in the world, Cantus enjoys a vigorous schedule of national tours; subscription concerts in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul; as well as innovative residencies, collaborations, educational outreach programs and recording.

The ensemble has toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Africa. They have sung to great acclaim at many nationally recognized festivals and venues. In the 2007-08 season, Cantus toured across the eastern United States with the Boston Pops, traveled to Cameroon, Africa, for a 13-day engagement, and performed in Washington D.C. at the Kennedy Center. They have also collaborated with the Minnesota Orchestra and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra.

Cantus has recorded eight CDs on its own label, Cantus Recording, garnering critical acclaim from Stereophile, Gramophone, Classics Today and National Public Radio.

The nine members of the ensemble include Chris Foss, Eric Hopkins Ellingsen, Aaron Humble, Adam Reinwald, Paul Rudoi, Gary Ruschman, Shazore Shah, Timothy C. Takach and Matthew Tintes.
